Cable clamps are held between the two half shells of the plug, cable connecting plug and backshell for receptacle.
Each cable clamp comprises a brass bush and two clamping halves. These are assembled by means of screws and lockwashers. Bush and clamping halves are nickel plated.

The bushing, made of molded synthetic rubber, is held in place between the
two halves of the backshells forming part of pin or socket plugs, cable connecting
plugs and also 3,4,6,8 and 12 contact receptacles, when the latter are fitted
with a protective backshell. Used as a grommet, the bushing will protect the
soldered connections from the transmitted effects of cable flexion. It is particularly
appropriate for use with rubber or plastic covered cables. Operating temperature
: (-25° C to+100° C)-13° F to +212°F.
*Note: For smaller diameter cables, use a suitable flexible sleeving
as an intermediate packing (length (60 mm) 2.36 in. approx.).
