DESCRIPTION

The thru-bulkhead receptacle comprises :
- A threaded metal shell with pin contacts insulated by glass sealing. The shell carries an integral catch pin to prevent rotation when secured in position ;
- An "O" ring seal of synthetic rubber material ;
- A hex locknut with its lockwasher.

Description

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The receptacle is secured to the bulkhead by means of a lock-nut. The passage of the receptacle through the bulkhead is sealed by compression of an "O" ring seal, placed in an annular groove in the receptacle flange. The seal is compressed between this flange and the bulkhead.

The bulkhead cut-out, as shown below, differs in accordance with bulkhead thickness. If this thickness is :
- between (2 and 10 mm) .079 and .394 in. :cut-out as par Figure 3.
- greater than (10 mm) .394 in. : cut-out as per Figure 4.
- less than (2 mm) .079 in. : consult the manufacturer.

Electrical:
- Nominal current rating: 6.3 amps for (2 mm) .079 dia. contacts, 10 amps for (3 mm). 118 dia. contacts
- Insulation resistance: higher than 10,000 megohms (500 volts D.C.)
- Flashover voltage: 1,500 Volts A.C. (r.m.s.)
- Contact resistance between pin and socket: less than 0.0025 ohm for (2 mm) .079 dia. contacts, less than 0.0015 ohm for (3 mm) .118 dia. contacts
These values are given for normal ground level conditions of atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity.
Mechanical: - Glass sealing between pins and shell confers high mechanical resistance.
- Pressure differential between front and back : 50 bar. Overload pressure under test : 150 bar.
- Conforming to temperature shock test limits per MIL-C-5015.
- Air leakage : When checked by a mass spectrometer, leak rate is less than 10-9/ATM./cu.cm/sec.
